A NEW monthly artisan market which will honour the town’s history will be coming to Trowbridge town centre from July.

With a wide range of unique and quality traders, the first Trowbridge Weavers Market will take place in and around Fore Street on Saturday July 13.

On sale will be a variety of products including handmade and upcycled goods, pieces by makers and artists, a range food local producers and planet-friendly products.

The market will then return on the second Saturday of each month, August 10, September 14, and October 12 before taking a break for the winter.

Run by a diverse community group, the market is aiming to provide something fresh and new for visitors and people of the town.

Town councillor Stewart Palmen who has been involved in organising the market said: “Our vision is to bring quality traders, creative people and the local community together and a great way to show this is by working with other local groups and events.

“It’s who we are and part of why we chose our name.

“A perfect example of this approach is how we’ve coordinated our launch event with the brilliant Active Festival, it helps expand that festival feeling across the whole town centre and gives visitors even more to see and enjoy on the day. It should be a great day out for everyone attending.”

“We’re currently focused on our traders and volunteers but we’ll soon have much more to share with general public.

“In June, we’ll update our website with full information about the market and start to showcase some of our awesome traders on our social media channels.

“We’re very excited about these events and think everyone else will be too.

“Put July 13, August 10, September 14 and October 12 in your diaries because you are not going to want to miss out.”

The markets are also an opportunity for local artisans, creators and traders to sell their goods, and applications are currently open on the market’s website at www.trowbridgeweaversmarket.co.uk.
