A WILTSHIRE restaurant has been listed in the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards out today putting it amongst the elite eateries in the country.

The summer celebration of the nation’s best restaurants lists the best 100 in the UK as rated by the Restaurant magazine as placed Whatley Manor near Malmesbury amongst the elite eateries.

Estrella Damm said of manor’s The Dining Room: “Niall Keating cooks edgy, Asian influenced food in one of the Cotswolds’ most vaunted country house hotels.”

The Dining Room holds one Michelin star and Niall’s menus showcase his skills matched to seasonal produce, that they describe as Modern British, but also influenced by his travels. In 2018 Niall was awarded Michelin’s European Young Chef of the Year.

More than 200 industry experts compile the list with the UK split into 11 regions, with members of the magazine’s academy voting for the top seven restaurants that they have dined at in the last 12 months, weighted in order of preference. The results are compiled, and the top 100 list of the best restaurants is created with Whatley Manor listed overall at number 58.

Less than a year after joining Whatley Manor near Malmesbury, Wiltshire, executive chef Niall Keating was awarded a Michelin star for The Dining Room, in the Michelin UK & Ireland Guide 2018.

Mr Keating said he was delighted with the award anounced today. He said: "This is Whatley Manor’s first time on the National Restaurant Awards list and it’s an honour to be included in the top 100. It is a tribute to the hard work and talent of my terrific team, I’m so proud of them.”
