PUPILS at Stonar Prep School at Atworth near Melksham took part in a treasure hunt to raise more than £1,500 to help protect the Sumatran Orangutans.
The youngsters, from Reception to Year 6, answered questions across a range of topics for the charitable cause.
Teachers, parents and pupils used iPads to find well-hidden QR codes in an augmented reality treasure hunt around the school grounds.
At the start of this year, the boys and girls were asked to present their suggestions for the Prep School’s chosen charity and then staged a vote to select a winner.
The winning charity, the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS), was put forward by two girls in Year 2 who were aware that the production of palm oil was helping to destroy the orangutans' habitat.
The girls said: “Saving endangered animals is important, and by bringing back the rainforests, we’ll also be helping thousands of other types of animal too.”
