CHIPPENHAM MP Michelle Donelan is says financial management should be taught in schools to enable people to avoid people falling into debt when they are older.
She was speaking at a Money Management event in Melksham last Friday June 14 designed to help people gain access to professional advice.
She said: “I’m a great advocate of financial literacy being taught to young people in our schools.
“I see so many constituents who fall into debt, or who need help to manage their money more effectively.”
Topics at the one-day event at Melksham Town Hall included debt, benefits, taxes, pensions and day-to-day financial planning.
Among the exhibitors were HM Revenues and Customs, The Pensions Advisory Service, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Wiltshire and Swindon Credit Union, The Hub at BA15, Jobcentreplus, Turn2Us, and independent financial advisers Chilvester of Calne and Marlborough.
