THIS is a personal letter to say a huge Thank You to all the Open Gardeners, the members of the Devizes In Bloom committee, the schools, nurseries and groups who took part in put SOS 4 Bugs and Beezzz challenge, the businesses who joined in with their Themed Windows and Chrissi Geddes and her team of knitters who bedecked the fencing in front of Assizes Court. The town has come alive.

At the present time our Open Gardens have raised £1,230 for the Mayor’s charities which is a brilliant sum and all must be congratulated for their efforts on what was not the best of weekends weather-wise.

In particular, I want to thank to Jan Chapman, who is our In Bloom Schools’ Coordinator, for going above and beyond the remit. Jan has worked tirelessly visiting schools, encouraging them to participate, helping to organise the displays on the roundabout by The Greens, finding from somewhere a Beekeeper’s outfit, beehives and a mannequin which have perfectly finished off the display. They all look wonderful.

Judging was due to take place on Wednesday but winners will not be revealed until our Presentation Afternoon on July 15 when we have invited school participants to come along to receive their certificates and awards.

I also want to thank Christopher Hazelwood for all his work in designing the Open Gardens maps and the SOS logo which you will have seen around the town.

Finally, thank you all for supporting us in making Devizes a place to visit and enjoy.

Chair, Devizes In Bloom
