TWO people were arrested in Melksham in the early hours of Saturday after officers stopped a vehicle on the A350.
Officers were on patrol in the Trowbridge area at around 1.30am when they spotted a black Audi on a number of occasions.
They had reason to stop the vehicle on the A350 in Melksham.
Both occupants were detained but made off from police – they were detained again quickly and a drugs search was carried out. Both were found to be in possession of cannabis.
During the incident, an officer was hit to the face.
A 24-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug, and an 18-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, assaulting an officer and obstructing police.
They have been interviewed and released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The vehicle was also searched and about £10,000 in cash was seized. The vehicle has been seized while further enquiries are conducted on it.
To report drug activity, call 101.
