A WOMAN has denied attempted murder after a man was stabbed multiple times in the head and neck.

Stacey Bilverstone appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, in connection with the alleged attempted murder in Cutteslowe last month.

The 41-year-old, of no fixed abode, appeared via a video link from prison to confirm her name and enter a plea.

Bilverstone pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder, but has not yet entered a plea for a second count, of possession of an offensive weapon.

The alleged victim, who had not previously been publicly identified, was named in court as 57-year-old Andrew Davis.

Bilverstone was arrested by police on the same day of the incident, which happened in Kendall Crescent on June 25, and charged the following day.

The road was cordoned off after Mr Davis was injured, and he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Thames Valley Police said the stabbing happened between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, and Mr Davis was in a 'serious but stable condition' the day after.

The court heard more details about what allegedly happened, but this information cannot yet be reported for legal reasons.

Bilverstone's defence barrister made an application for her bail, but Judge Ian Pringle did not grant this request.

She was remanded in custody and her trial has been scheduled at the same court for Monday, November 25.

According to discussions between barristers on Friday, the trial is expected to span about five days.
