The Gazette & Herald and the Wiltshire Times are looking for a new reporter to join the team.

The candidate will play a vital role in bringing the news that matters to readers young and old, using modern digital skills and technology as well as traditional methods.

In return they will receive training in newsgathering techniques, plenty of opportunities to get out and about meeting the people of Wiltshire and the satisfaction of knowing they are bringing people the news, as the two papers have done for a combined total of almost 380 years.

Our new recruit may be someone who has studied journalism on an NCTJ-registered one year or degree-level course, giving them the skills to start reporting straight away, or be someone already qualified who's looking to move into the county.

If journalism is your passion but you've not yet studied it in detail, opportunities are also available via apprenticeships and other roles.

Our new team member will have social media at their fingertips, with a good knowledge of how to use Facebook, Twitter and other platforms to engage with our readers across the digital sector a key skill.

They should have a full clean driving licence, as they will need to travel in search of stories and to cover incidents and events.

We aim to train all our journalists to go on and take NCTJ examinations, giving them valuable and industry-recognised professional qualifications.

If you're interested in the role, send your CV to Editor Pete Gavan, at pete.gavan@wiltshire.newsquest.co.uk
