HUNDREDS of pounds was raised for Larkrise Special School in Trowbridge when the Songbirds Choir held their summer concert at Paxcroft Mead Community Centre.

A cheque for £1000 was presented to the school on Monday.

On July 15, flute ensembles led by Celia Waghorn and professional soprano Lorrain Mahoney featured on the programme and a performers sang to a full house. There was varied programme of song and music, including classical, musical theatre and folk.

A spokesman from Friends of Larkrise said: “We would just like to say how appreciative we were of the offer of a charity concert for our school.

“The choir and musicians worked really hard to perform a lovely concert and the money will go towards trips and extra facilities for our children.

“It’s been a stressful few months for all our families and support like this from the local community is deeply touching and uplifting.”
