DONATIONS were made to two charities to mark Bradford on Avon Women's 100 centenary year of events and fundraising.

Cheques were presented to Splitz, a chairty which works with delivering support services to adults and young people experiencing the trauma of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and Malala Fund, an international, non-profit organization that fights for girls' education.

The two organisations were chosen last year and were given £1271.37 each.

Alex Kay from Bradford on Avon Women's 100 said: "We decided it would be good to raise awareness of the plight of girls around the world in contrast to the rights that women in the UK gained over 100 years ago, during our many and varied events including a quiz night, disco, films, paper dolls and writing competition.

"Our centenary events for W100 were supported in part by a generous grant from WVCGS, as well as support from the town council and Area Board."
