ONE of West Wiltshire's ancient manor houses will ring out to the sound of canon fire and musket shot next weekend.
Great Chalfield Manor House will play host to the Marquess of Winchester's Regiment of the English Civil War Society.
They will re-enact the two-day Royalist occupation of the 15th century manor house near Bradford on Avon in 1644 - 375 years ago.
At the start of each day, the regiment and accompanying civilians will march in and guards will be posted to keep watch.
The soldiers will drill and fire muskets and a canon during the day.
The re-enactment takes place on Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, from 10.30am onwards.
Entrance is £5 per person and visitors will also be able to stroll around the manor gardens and see how 17th century people lived.
They will also be able to see an account of the events in 1644.
