FOUR employees at Warminster glove-makers Dents have between them clocked up nearly 200 years’ service.

The heritage glove maker is recognised for the longevity of its staff and this month three members were given presentations for over 50 years’ service each to the glove-maker and one for 45 years.

They include Lily Mundy, Teresa Tryhorne and Sally Norris, who have all been working for the company since the 1960s.

Lily alone has worked for Dents for 54 years, while Rodney Trigger, who also received an award, is a positive newcomer, having only worked for the company since 1975!

Deborah Moore, Chief Executive of Dents, was delighted to be able to award such long serving members of staff.

She said: “During our 240-year-old history, we have had several generations of the same family working with us here at Dents.

“This strong team feeling and camaraderie remain and everyone takes enormous pride in the creation of our gloves.

“This awards day for four such long serving employees has been very special indeed.”

Sally Norris, 65, who started working for Dents a month before Teresa, said: "When I started, I had two elder sisters working here, Pat and Mary, and my youngster sister Bridget has been here for 30 years.

"I carry on because I just love it. Over the years, I have made many friends and some of them are real characters. It's just lovely."

When Lily joined Dents, an average pay for glove-makers was £4. 94p a week. Trainees were given the opportunity to explore all areas of glove making, from leather cutting and machining to embossing and hand sewing.

Rodney Jagelman, MA FIA, master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers, presented the long service awards to the four employees.

He was joined by Tony Wheeler, President, and Richard Peck, Chief Executive Officer, of the Royal Warrant Holders’ Association.
