The Mayor Robert Merrick hosted an amazing quiz night and supper with Calne Rotary Club, Calne Lions and Marden Belles WI to celebrate raising over £3,400 for Dorothy House and raise even more money.

Kate Tompkins with Fran Godwin organised the annual Calne Rotary Classic Car Run with over 65 Classic Cars setting off from Calne to explore 70 miles of wonderful Wiltshire countryside. Calne Lions provided breakfast as the drivers and passengers checked in, North Wilts Friends welcomed everyone to the halfway stop at Seagry with amazing refreshments and Marden Belles WI served a fabulous lunch at the wonderful gardens of Dorothy House.

Kate Tompkins said " We had a fantastic Classic Car Rally which would not have been possible without the support of our Mayor Robert Merrick our friends from Marden Belles, Calne Lions and North Wilts Friends of Dorothy House. Robert donated his much loved Mazda MX5 for auction and together we raised over £3,400 for Dorothy House."

Dorothy House Hospice provides care for all patients with a life limiting illness and 21% of patients live with an illness other than cancer, such as motor neurone disease, heart failure and dementia. Most of the care is in people's own homes, the outreach centres and the community with 10 beds at Winsley for respite care and symptom control.

The specialist doctors, nurses and therapists are supported by over a 1000 volunteers, such as the amazing people at the Dorothy House Shop in Calne. For every £1 received from the NHS Dorothy House has to raise £5 to continue to provide their services.

Our next Calne Rotary Classic Car Rally is on Sunday 17th May 2020, for information email calnerotaryclassicrun@gmail.com or see website www.calnerotary.org.uk
