GENEROUS customers at the Coventry Building Society branch in Melksham impressed staff so much with their response to a campaign to help the town's Foodbank that the branch now has a permanent donation station to collect items.

Natasha Wood, Customer Service Specialist at the Melksham High Street branch said, “We’ve been working with the Melksham food bank since December and have been in awe of the generosity of our members buying food and toiletry items during previous collections, raising nearly £300. Based on feedback from our members, we hosted a donation station on July 12, and invited members, staff and local shoppers to come in and make a donation.”

“Again we have been overwhelmed by the kindness of our members. We’ve collected massive amounts of food and other supplies for local people in need. One of our members regularly brought in bags full of items. We have been able to hand over 10 full carrier bags of donations from our members, staff and the general public.”

“Given how successful our collections have been, we now have a permanent donation station here, so if anyone would like to make a donation to the foodbank, we would be delighted to take it for you.”

Hillary, a volunteer at the Melksham Foodbank, said: “The foodbank provide emergency food parcels to families and individuals who are in need of some help. They also offer a safe place where tea, coffee and a chat are provided, and a breakfast club for parents and their children during school holidays. People can get involved by volunteering, donating food and offering financial contributions.”
