PIRATES led a mutiny aboard a canal boat on Saturday and made the skipper walk the plank.

But it was all in good fun - and the hour-long trip was enjoyed by parents as well as the children.

The trip on the MV Barbara McLellan was organised by the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust for the summer holidays.

Four children came along - and were given ship’s biscuits and grog and chocolate coins as pirate’s treasure.

Luca, 4, from Trowbridge, Freddie, 4, from Calne, and Alex, 7, and James, 5, from Hungerford, all enjoyed the fun.

Pirate captain John MacIver said: “We mutinied at the start and made the skipper walk the plank.

“The children also sang pirate songs and learned how to tie knots.”

The trips start from the Canal Wharf at Bradford on Avon.

They will take place every Tuesday at 2pm to August 27, and on every Saturday at 10.30am to August 31.
