A CAFÉ chain with branches in Chippenham and Corsham has gone into liquidation – but the venues are very much still open.

The owner of Grounded has signalled he wants to carry on with the business, although he has closed two branches in Bristol in recent weeks.

There had been rumours that the Corsham outlet – previously the Chapel Etc restaurant, and housed in a 1790 converted church – had closed, and that the Bradford on Avon branch would also be closing.

An employee, who said he had heard the rumours, said the Corsham branch was still open.

Director Tobie (corr) Holbrook posted an announcement on the official government record site The Gazette last month, giving notice that he intended to carry on running ‘the whole or substantially the whole’ of the business.

The notice says the Café Grounded company went into insolvent liquidation on July 26.

Mr Holbrook is currently uncontactable.

He has said his other eight sites – which aside from the three Wiltshire ones, are in and around Bristol – are ‘thriving’.
