A fun dog show to raise funds for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is likely to take place at the White Hart in Atworth next year after this year's inaugural event was hailed a success.

Around 40 dogs and their owners turned up at Saturday's event and there were 110 entries in the categories.

The event raised £200 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and was organised with help from the Bowerhill Barkers.

Caroline Fielding, from Bowerhill Barkers, brought along her guide dog Mike, a two-year-old Labrador/Retriever cross.

She said: "It has been absolutely fabulous. We've had lots of interest and lots of beautiful dogs, and we've been really lucky with the weather."

The White Hart managers, Nathan and Kirsty Cortillo, laid on a hot dog and burger barbecue.

They also organised live music acts to entertain the crowd of onlookers during the three-hour event.

Kirsty said: "We have never done this before and had a lot more dogs than we expected. We are over the moon and plan to make it an annual event."
