AN ASPIRING musician from Trowbridge hosted a gig in the skatepark, after being disappointed by a late venue cancellation.

Adam Zanotti, 21, who runs the Sound of the SouthWest grime music Youtube channel, had to reorganise the Bars and Beats gig after The Lamb Inn, Trowbridge, cancelled the booking just two days before.

The night of music was originally to be held at The Village Pump but was cancelled by landlady Rose McNally as she did not want unsupervised children around, as she could lose her licence.

She said: "The event was advertised as open to all ages, but this doesn' t really work as we're a pub.

"I only found out about the booking on Thursday (July 25) and cancelled it as soon as I could.

"I did say the event could go ahead if only over 18s turned up but they didn't go for it.

"The Village Pump is also mainly for folk bands or similar music, I didn't want to bring grime and drum and bass to my pub."

However, Adam Zanotti felt disappointed he was cancelled at the last minute, even though he had paid for DJ decks already.

The booking was not made by the Lamb Inn's landlady, and no comment was made at the time that it may be cancelled.

Adam said: "I think it's a negative approach to not want our sort of music.

"I was trying to bring opportunities to local artists to play their music.

"I'd planned the gig two to three months ago and was put under huge stress when I had to reorganise."

The event was held for free at Trowbridge skatepark on July 27 and 40-50 people attended.

Facebook users reacted positively, as Sharlotte Collier called it ' a fab evening' and Kaylee Ford said 'the kids were welcoming and were not causing any harm/trouble'.
