HEARTBREAKING pictures of a cat dumped in a layby with just a handwritten note by her owner have been released by the RSPCA.

Roxy was abandoned in a blue holdall near The Café on the A351 Yarnbrook Road on Monday night. Attached to the holdall was a partially readable message “My name is Roxy, I’m a four year old girl...look after...sorry Roxy...I had no choice.”

The driver who found her called the RSPCA and rushed the cat to t he vets to be checked over.

Although scared and without a microchip, Roxy was found to be in good health and is now recovering in RSPCA care.

She will be rehomed if nobody comes forward with information abut her owner.

RSPCA inspector Hayley Lawrence said: ““This is just heartbreaking for poor Roxy, I can only imagine the owner felt they had no other choice but it is never acceptable to leave a pet in this way, anything could have happened.

"If anyone does recognise Roxy they can call our appeal line 0300 123 8018.”
