Following the recent announcement by the Prime Minister that 20,000 new police officers will be deployed across the country over the next three years, the Conservative Candidate for the 2020 Police and Crime Commissioner elections has been to meet with the new Prime Minister and Home Secretary to discuss Wiltshire Police's funding.

Top of Jonathon Seed’s agenda was county's police funding, which for many years has been amongst the worst funded per head of population in the country.

He said: “The current funding formula established by Tony Blair’s government that is used to work out how much government money is provided to each police force, puts Wiltshire almost at the very bottom of the funding pile. It is an absolute disgrace that our successful and hardworking officers and staff are provided with fewer resources. I will continue to actively lobby and advocate in person for a change to the disgracefully unfair and archaic funding.”
