POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an altercation in a car park in Westbury.

It happened at around 5pm on Tuesday, August 13 in the Warminster Road car park.

A black Mercedes was parked in a disabled bay when it was approached by a passer-by, who shouted at the driver and damaged the bonnet.

The victim, a man in his 60s, who had his blue badge displayed, was punched by the man through the open car window and suffered minor injuries.

A 65-year-old man from Westbury was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

PC Adam Woods, from West Wiltshire Community Policing Team, said: “The car park would have been busy at that time of day and we know there will have been a number of people who would have witnessed this incident.

“There is also likely to be people who had dash cam footage which shows what happened.”

Anyone with information should call PC Woods on 101, quoting crime reference 54190079934. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
