ENTRANTS in this year’s Trowbridge Soap Box Derby were given a thorough drenching in water but it was all in good fun.
They were the winners of the town’s annual Trowbridge Carnival event in Castle Street, Trowbridge on Sunday morning.
Maryrose Mantle, chairwoman of the event, said: “The Soap Boxes this year were spectacular with one entirely recyclable, Save The Turtle.
“They sailed down the road, weaving through the chicanes towards the finish line, the drivers concentrating on getting the best time possible with spectators cheering them on.
“The Carnival Committee warmly welcomed all the local entrants and also the Hedger family from Surrey back for their 13th year.”
The Under 7s race was won by Michael Pearce and George Howes.
The 7-11 years race was won by Sam Howes, with Charlie Raines finishing second and Charles, Amelie and Jessica Harris coming third.
Leanne Price won the 16-plus race, with Jack Mannis second and Rob Howes finishing third.
