Stonar School pupils and staff are celebrating academic and personal achievements in last week's A Level results, with almost all pupils having gained places at their first choice of university.

Although all pupils should be proud of their achievements, special recognition should go to Sam Jackson who achieved three As and will now study Medicine at Leicester, Lily Richardson who achieved A*s in Art and Photography and is excited to join Trowbridge Art Foundation and Bella Shaw who gained 2 A*s, an A and a B and will study Psychology at Exeter.

Head Pupil, Bella said: “I have been supported as an individual every step of the way in my journey at Stonar.

"Small class sizes, one on one lessons and extra support, not just academically but also in my university research and application process, have helped me to achieve my full potential.

“I am particularly happy to have achieved an A* in my EPQ on Dyslexia, which is a subject so close to my heart given my own struggles with this.”

Other university destinations of Stonar pupils include: Law at Oxford Brookes, International Equine Agricultural Management at the Royal Agricultural University, Veterinary Biosciences at Surrey, Theatre and Performing Arts at Leeds Beckett and Fashion Management and Marketing at the University of Creative Arts

Stonar School Head Dr Sally Divall said: “As a non-academically selective school we nurture individuality and encourage pupils to follow their own path. Our team of experienced and dedicated Sixth Form teachers provide bespoke guidance to each and every pupil.

“Today’s results highlight the diverse array of interests and strengths in our pupils and we are delighted with their achievements, which reflect the hard work of pupils and staff alike.

"We have seen an increase in the number of A* grades achieved this year and are delighted to report that in Art, History, Maths, Photography, Physics and Spanish 100 per centg of grades were at the highest level.”

Pupil Izzy Murray, who joined Stonar in the Sixth Form and will study Fashion Management and Marketing at the University of Creative Arts, said: “I don’t think I would have been able to achieve what I have today if I hadn’t gone to Stonar. The teaching and support were just incredible, and it allowed me to make new friends for life.”
