AN AMATEUR drama group in Sutton Benger raised more than £1,100 for charity with performances of a comedy.

Green Buttons Theatre Group, named because Green Buttons is an anagram of Sutton Benger, played three shows of Derek Benfield's Wild Goose Chase at the village hall, to raise funds for Dorothy House.

The drama group's chair, Alison Parker, explained how the performances were also put on in memory of former member, Dot Barker.

She said: "Dot was a consummate performer from whom the company members learnt so much and who is much missed.

"The play was well received by the audiences on all the nights and the company would like to thank everyone for their generous support.

"In memory of Dot, all profits from the play, a total of £1,114 was donated to her chosen charity, Dorothy House Hospice Care."

The shows took place in May, but the cheque was donated by the group to Dorothy House on August 20.
