A DILTON Marsh resident has lost his appeal against Wiltshire Council's refusal to allow him to retrospectively change the use of agricultural land next to his home to a garden.
Mr J Daykin submitted a retrospective application to change the use of land next to Vicarage Gardens, including the installation of a garden shed, play climbing frames, zip wire and frames.
Planning inspector Ian Brown dismissed the appeal and agreed with Wiltshire Council's reasons for refusal.
He said the garden and play equipment would adversely effect the character and appearance of the area and the development was against local planning policies.
During the site visit, Mr Daykin submitted a revised plans to significantly reduce the area of land to be used as a garden.
The inspector said the revised plan could not be considered as part of the appeal and would have to be submitted to the council as a separate application.
