CAR enthusiasts took a trip down memory lane with vintage vehicles being brought from far and wife to a meet in Bratton on Sunday.

The Vintage Vehicles meet was well attended with cars, lorries, tractors and motorbikes on display.

John Drewett at Fitzroy Farm, some of the tractors took part in a ploughing match, producing impressively straight furrows.

Mr Drewett said: “Many thanks to Peter Gale for the use of his land, and everyone who attended."

With vintage car meets becoming more popular, more than 300 owners have registered their vehicles to take part in next month's White Horse Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show.

Organised by the Lions Clubs of Westbury and Trowbridge, the event on Sunday, September 1 is the second to be staged in the White Horse Country Park at Westbury.

They are hoping to beat last year's attendance of nearly 300 exhibition vehicles from across the South West, including classic cars and motorcycles, vintage tractors and classic commercial vehicles.

Alongside the wide range of vehicles on show there will be fair rides and games, live music, stalls, ice creams, food served throughout the day and licensed bar.

All entry fees and funds raised from the stalls on the day will go towards charities and those in need within the Westbury and Trowbridge communities.

A Westbury Lions Club spokesman said: "Whether you are a car or motorcycle enthusiast, a connoisseur of vintage tractors and commercial vehicles or are simply looking for a fun family day out, we are certain you will receive a warm welcome.

"This year there are lots of important anniversaries for the motor enthusiast, with Bentley enjoying its centenery year, The Jaguar Mk2, the iconic Mini and local legends Marcos celebrating 60 years and the Ford Mustang reaching 55 years."

The event is open to the public from 10.30am until 4pm.
