A WASTE disposal firm, who work throughout Wiltshire, have been awarded for the large amount of recycling they have collected in the last year.

Hills Waste Solutions were presented with a Quality Recognition Award at the Resource Association’s annual Lecture and Summer Reception, held in July n at the National Liberal Club in Westminster, London.

In August 2018 Hills began collecting food and drink cartons at the kerbside from householders as part of its waste management contract with Wiltshire Council., previously these items could only be recycled at local household recycling centres.

Figures show that the number of cartons collected has soared from nearly a million cartons in 2017/18 to five million cartons, 100 tonnes, since August 2018.

Henry Newbery, recycling manager for Hills, explains: “It is not only the quantity collected but also the quality of the product which is so important when it comes to recycling.

"We have managed to obtain a high quality of recyclates."
