SCORES of people joined in the Colour Rush in Devizes on Saturday evening as they painted the town not just red but green, blue and yellow as well.

A large number of runners of all ages were prepared to brave the onslaught of coloured powder as part of the town's carnival fortnight.

The event moved to a Saturday for the first time after the carnival parade was switched to July and the Confetti Battle and Colour Rush organised by Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts took over the weekend slot.

Among those taking part were the Macey family with eight-year-old Mya in a special wheelchair that allows her to go all terrain. Her dad Ben and aunt Katie were there to guide her around the route.

Mya, who is a pupil at Bowerhill Primary and suffers from a swelling on the spine, said: "I think it is going to be good fun."

Nick Holmes from Route2Fitness gym led the warm up at Green Lane Playing Field before the runners headed off to Drews Pond and to Hillworth Park before finishing in the Market Place in time for the Confetti Battle.
