FOUR people have been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in Trowbridge in which a woman was slashed with a knife and shot with a BB pellet gun.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Tuesday . Offenders forced their way into a flat in Francis Street, demanded money from the occupants and threatened them with a knife and a pellet gun.

During the incident, a young woman in her 20s sustained significant injuries, but has now been released from hospital. A man also suffered a facial injury.

Officers from central CID have arrested two 19-year-old women and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to commit burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. They have all been released under investigation.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and has been released on conditional bail.

Det Sgt Adam Fleetwood-Brown said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing. At this stage, we believe this to be a drugs-related incident but we are keeping an open mind.

“The female victim sustained some serious injuries as a result of what would have been no doubt extremely frightening for the occupants, and will understandably have caused concern amongst the local community.

"However, I do want to reassure residents in the area that these types of incidents are very infrequent.”

“Four people have now been arrested in connection with the investigation and we are continuing with our enquiries.
