Mr McGregor’s garden, the setting for Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit, will feature in the Lady Chapel of St Mary’s Church, Steeple Ashton, over the harvest festival weekend of September 21-22.

Other displays that will fill the church in a Beatrix Potter spectacular will showcase Peter Rabbit himself, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, the dormouse – all favourite characters that feature in Beatrix Potter’s timeless animal tales.

The characters have all made by villagers and members of the Wiltshire Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers who are based in the village.

The figures have been made by churchwarden, Michael Moore, Kay King and Petra Brown, chief organiser and Mr McGregor’s maker.

Mr Moore is busy building Mr McGregor’s cottage incorporating the church chapel door with a thatched roof and mock window and fencing to the side.

Admission to the displays is free from 10am to 5pm on Saturday September 21 and from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday September 22.
