A 27-year-old man has been arrested in a drugs bust in Devizes.

Officers carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Devizes as part of Op Sceptre, the Wiltshire Police knife crime awareness and amnesty campaign.

They visited a property on Moyne Close on Wednesday morning (18/09) where an amount of cannabis was found.

They seized the drugs along with a large kitchen knife, a hammer and a knuckle duster.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and was taken to Melksham Police Station for questioning.

Inspector Pete Foster said: "The result of this warrant today means that there are now fewer drugs in circulation in our communities.

"Those who deal these drugs can cause great harm to those who live locally.

“The knock-on effects of drug dealing include anti-social behaviour, violence and other criminality, and the seizure of a knife at this address proves that point.

"The Op Sceptre campaign is about taking knives and other weapons off our streets which also breaks another part of the criminal cycle."

If you are concerned about drug dealing in your neighbourhood then please report it to police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
