THE roof of Trowbridge multi-storey car park should be made more secure say many people in the town after a man died following an incident there on Monday evening.

In the past two years, emergency services have blocked off the car park in St Stephens Place a total of four times after people threatened to throw themselves off the roof.

Now the town has called for more to be done to improve the safety of the car park which has gained a negative reputation.

Many people took to social media following the most recent incident to express their safety concerns.

Crystal Portsmouth said: “Very sad news. More needs to be done to make the car park safer. This is sadly becoming a common occurrence.”

Damien Mence commented: “Need to bar the whole car park up. This happens quite often."

A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “We were very sorry to hear of this tragic incident. As the exact circumstances around this death have not been confirmed, we are unable to comment on it. Once the facts have been established we will see if any action needs to be taken on-site.”
