THE Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Paul Macfarlane has cut the tape to officially open the town's new £236,000 skatepark.
To cheers from VIP guests and local youngsters, the new skateboard park was launched on Saturday.
The opening follows 12 years of campaigning by local youths for a new skatepark to replace one that was no longer fit for purpose.
Sadly, the post-launch party with games and music was postponed by skatepark designer and builders Maverick because of the forecast poor weather conditions.
However, the opening went ahead as planned with a blessing from Warminster town councillor, Reverend Denis Brett.
The skatepark was designed and project-managed by Ian Jennings, a former skateboard champion.
It will now be used by skateboard and stunt scooter enthusiasts from Warminster and the surrounding area.
