TROWBRIDGE Town Hall is to showcase the most prestigious showcase of contemporary watercolour painting in the UK.

Following the launch of the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition at the Mall Galleries, London, the exhibition has made its way to Trowbridge where it will be on display until Saturday, November 9.

The annual exhibition is now in its 32nd year, the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition represents the best of fresh and quality artwork produced in watercolour nationwide.

It celebrates and re-defines the beauty and diversity of the medium, through over 90 artworks selected by a professional judging panel.

There is a huge range of painting styles and subject matter on display, and visitors can keep their eye out for the four prize winners, Leo Davey’s Condensation, Adrian Potts’ Pavement Primrose, Mark Elsmore’s Iron Mighty and Katherine Jackson’s Self Portrait at Night.

Trowbridge Town Hall is one of only three venues to host the exhibition this year.

Town Hall Arts director David Lockwood said: “To hold such a prestigious show of cutting edge work in the heart of Trowbridge is wonderful. We’ve had positive feedback from the public so far because there really is something for everyone on display, and people appreciate the privilege of having it here for all to view, free of charge.”

It will be open from Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
