A LOST Darlington dog went on an adventure when he climbed on the number 2 bus, alone.

The dog, believed to be a Staffie or a Staffie cross, hopped on the Arriva bus to Branksome last night and sat next to a woman on one of the seats.

When everyone had got off the bus it emerged that the dog was alone.

Passenger Emily Henry said: "I got on the bus and the dog was sat on a seat next to a woman and looked calm.

"I think the driver assumed the man it walked on behind was its owner.

"Then everyone had got off the bus except for me and my boyfriend, and the dog was left on, so the driver told us we coudn't go anywhere until it was sorted.

"Thankfully the owner saw my Facebook post and contacted the driver who had put the dog in the bus shop while he carried on driving."

Arriva has been contacted for comment.
