A BELOVED Tiffany bracelet has been returned to its owner following an appeal run by The Wiltshire Times, after it was discovered in Bradford on Avon.

Amy McQuaid, 19, from Hilperton was over the moon to find out the bracelet which she was given for her 16th birthday by her mum had been found, and has thanked the Good Samaritan who stumbled across it.

Elizabeth Brown, 63, from Woolley Street was shopping in the town when she noticed the bracelet on the floor near the Co-op in Bridge Yard.

Miss McQuaid saw the appeal just two days after it was published in the Wiltshire Times and later met Mrs Brown to collect the precious jewellery.

She said: “I was just so relieved when I saw my bracelet was found, I was at work when my mum saw the appeal online and told me.

“I was very lucky that such an honest person like Elizabeth found it, and I would like to thank her for trying to find me.

“It is very special to me and I wear it everyday, I never take it off.

“I was walking my dog with my mum in Bradford on Avon when it fell off my wrist, and I noticed when I got home.

“I searched my car and the house trying to find it but had no luck.

“I was so upset and my wrist felt so bare without it.”

Mrs Brown knew the bracelet could be worth a lot of money when she found it but was more concerned as she thought it was bound to mean a lot to its owner.

She said: “I saw it glistening on the floor and thought it must have sentimental value.

“I reported it to the police but there wasn’t much else I could do, so I called the Wiltshire Times to see if they could help, and I am so glad they did.

“I was overjoyed when Amy got in contact with me and she knew the initials engraved on the back.

"I knew it belonged to her from how excited she was.

“I am quite an observant person and have found a few pieces of lost jewellery in the past.

“I have also lost a few pieces myself, so I know how important it is to try and find the owner.”

Miss Quaid has now vowed to make sure the bracelet stays with her at all times and doesn't slip off her wrist again.

She added: “I keep checking my wrist all the time to make sure it is still there.

“I will certainly be keeping a close eye on it.”
