GOGGLEBOX stars Giles and Mary will be visiting Trowbridge this Christmas to support a charity concert in aid of homeless young people.

The couple from Pewsey who are known for their eccentric humour will be leading the readings at the concert to be held at St James Church on December 12.

The event is being run by the Amber Foundation, a charity supporting young people grappling with homelessness and unemployment in Trowbridge. This will be their first ever charity concert and people can expect timeless carols and magical musical performances.

Mary said: "Giles and I are absolutely delighted to be involved with Amber’s celebrity carol concert in Trowbridge.

"Not only does Amber give young homeless people a temporary home but they offer a programme of support that helps young people make lasting and positive changes to their lives.

"We live in Wiltshire and are proud to be able to support such a worthwhile local charity.”

Soul legend Jaki Graham will kick off the festivities with a special solo performance.

She said: “It’s always a pleasure to support The Amber Foundation.

"The work they do to support young people through homelessness to help get them back on their feet is a cause I will always be behind.

"When you see the results that this wonderful foundation achieve, to see them truly make a difference, then you understand why it’s so important that every little bit of support we can give to The Amber Foundation goes a long way, in allowing them to continue saving lives and creating new beginnings.”

Community choir, The Trowbridge Town Singers, will perform Christmas carols by candle light.

Laura Fenson, fundraising manager at the Amber Foundation said: "We are absolutely delighted to be holding our very first celebrity Christmas carol concert this year.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received, not only from the celebrities but from our local community.

"St James’ is a wonderful church for the event and it will be a heart-warming and festive evening that everyone can enjoy."

Tickets for the concert can be bought through the Amber Foundation website or at Trowbridge Civic Centre.
