KEEN angler Phil Chester has opened a new fishing tackle shop in Westbury's Maristow Street.

Westbury Tackle will cater for anglers from the town and surrounding area who go carp, pike and sea fishing.

It's the first time that Mr Chester, 44, has run a shop although retailing runs in the family.

His great aunt and uncle, the Lawrences, once ran two businesses in the street 80 odd years ago.

Mr Chester said: "I've been a passionate fisherman for 30 years and thought it was about time I gave it a go.

"I'm going to have less time for fishing but at least I get to talk about it in the shop."

He celebrated the opening on Saturday with guests from his suppliers Munch Baits and Hobo Armour .

Previously, Mr Chester spent 11 years as a residential support worker at Fairfield Farm College in Dilton Marsh.

He added: "The opening day was fantastic and we've had a steady flow of people coming in. So far, it has gone really well."
