PLANS by a Dilton Marsh man to build on land next to Hisomley Farmhouse have been dismissed on appeal.

A planning inspector from Bristol agreed with Wiltshire Council that the extension would conflict with the development plan for the area.

Mr Thomas Ayres had wanted to build an extension to an existing day room to provide a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms and two living rooms.

Mr Ayres lives in a 40-year-old mobile home which the inspector said could be replaced by a newer model.

Mr Ayres had argued the extension would provide better accommodation for himself and his wife, and for a relative who lives in Frome.

There is also a restriction attached preventing the site being used by travellers and gipsies.
