A TROWBRIDGE cyclist suffered life-changing injuries in a collision in Westbury last night.

The collision occurred just after 6pm on the A350 junction with Coach Road.

A BMW M5 was travelling south on the A350 approaching the Coach Road junction when it collided with the cyclist.

There were four occupants in the BMW – all had left the scene when officers arrived and were located walking along Coach Road.

Three men and one woman, aged between 21 and 46, have been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including causing injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, and drink driving.

They all remain in Melksham custody centre for questioning while police enquiries continue.

The cyclist – a man in his 40s from Trowbridge – was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with suspected life- changing leg injuries.

The road was closed for eight hours while a full accident scene examination was conducted.

PC Peter Williamson said: “This was a serious collision which has left a local man suffering serious life-changing injuries which will require surgery today.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been driving along the A350 at this time who may have dash cam footage which could significantly help with our investigation.”
