A MELKSHAM primary school has been given top marks by a Church of England inspector.

Forest & Sandridge CofE Primary School was awarded the highest overall grade possible in its recent SIAMS report, which focuses on the impact of the Church school's Christian vision.

The school was judged to be ‘excellent’ in all three areas inspected during the visit on October 18.

Principal Anna Willcox said: “We are completely delighted with the outcome of our SIAMS report and that the inspector captured the essence of what is so important to us as a school.

"Our school community all hold our vision and values close and recognise it as the foundation of all we do.

"What we have achieved would not be possible without this joined-up, family approach. We look forward to continuing to grow from strength to strength over the coming years.”

The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) is a mandatory inspection conducted at Church of England and Methodist schools every three to five years.

The report is important for Forest & Sandridge as it recognises the impact the school is having on young lives through its Christian vision and values.

The report covers the promotion, impact, and effectiveness of the school’s distinctive Christian vision; the impact of collective worship at the school and the effectiveness of religious education.

Forest & Sandridge’s excellent SIAMS report follows news that the school has been awarded the gold religious education quality mark by the Religious Education Council of England and Wales.
