A serial shoplifter has swerved jail – but been banned from almost every single shop in the country for the next year.

Beau Houghton, 42, of Haydon Court, stole boys clothing from Matalan, Blu Ray discs and DVDs from HMV, CDs from Boots and a 32-inch TV from Tesco in Cirencester. Houghton admitted theft.

He was sentenced to the 18-month suspended sentence order, with a requirement to complete a six month drug rehabilitation programme.

He has been banned from every shop in the country except for the Carfax Street pharmacy, Ocotal Way Tesco, Esso petrol station in Royal Wootton Bassett and shops or kiosks at Great Western Hospital.

Houghton was ordered to pay £504 in compensation and victim surcharge.
