A PAIR accused of breaking into a man’s room while armed with a baton and knife have been remanded in custody.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, Lee Fitchett, 37, of Aldsworth Close, Fairford, and Callum Sherry, 30, of Spruce Court, Pinehurst, spoke only to confirm their personal details.

Sherry, who appeared in the dock wearing a grey tracksuit, is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and damaging a Wiltshire Police custody cell.

Tattooed Fitchett has been charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, dangerous driving on the A419, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.

The pair are alleged to have broken in to one of their victim’s Sheppard Street bedsit in the early hours of November 19. Fitchett is said to have threatened the man with an extendable baton and instructed him to strip. Sherry is accused of showing the man a knife and making similar threats.

The men are said to have stolen three tracksuits, a bottle of Southern Comfort whiskey and a pair of Nike T10 trainers.

They were remanded in custody for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Swindon Crown Court on December 20.
