POLICE have cordoned off three areas in Trowbridge town centre after a stabbing in the early hours of this morning.
Shortly before 4.45am, the victim, a man in his 40s from Trowbridge, attended Trowbridge police station shortly after he had been attacked in the town.
He is now receiving treatment at the Royal United Hospital in Bath and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A Police spokesman said: "As a result of our initial enquiries, three areas in the town have been cordoned off in relation to this inquiry – an area outside Trowbridge police station, outside St James’ Church and an address at Charlotte Square.
"Members of the local community are likely to see an increased police presence around these areas.
"Anyone who has information relating to this incident is asked to contact us now on 101 and quote crime reference number 54190116640."
Scenes of crimes officers have been working in the three areas since the early hours of this morning.
The Charlotte Square area has been the scene of several stabbing incidents in recent years, including the tragic death of Jordan Taylor, 25, in March 2017.
