A police chase involving five pursuit cars resulted in a Peugeot being abandoned at Larkrise School in Trowbridge.
The driver made off and police are now questioning two occupants, a man and a woman, regarding possible stolen goods.
The Peugeot was eventually abandoned in the Larkrise School car park after the chase through parts of Trowbridge and was being guarded by a police community support officer.
A local resident who witnessed the chase said: "The driver had no regards for safety at all driving at high speed through Harford Street and into Ashton Street and into Larkrise School car park where he made off on foot.
"Luckily it was not school turn out time where it could had resulted in a tragedy.”
Police are appealing for witnesses. Call 101 if you have any information that could help with their enquiries.
