A PRE-school in Corsley has received a £1,000 boost from a local business to kick-start its fundraising campaign for a new learning space.

Technical support company TMTI in Corsley has donated the funds to Little Cuckoos Pre-School to help towards its £5,000 target.

The charity-run pre-school, which has been in the village for over 20 years, wants to create additional space at its rural setting in Lyes Green.

It plans to purchase a shepherd’s hut-style building to create extra room for small-group activities to further develop the learning of its children, whose ages range from two to four years.

Hayley McMahon, Pre-School Manager at Little Cuckoos, said: “This is such a fantastic start towards our plans to raise money for a new learning space at the pre-school.

"The generous donation from TMTI will be a huge help to kick-start our fundraising efforts.

“There is so much beautiful outdoor space surrounding our building for children to explore and play; however as we continue to increase our enrolment numbers each year, we are now in need of additional indoor space beyond the classroom to offer opportunities for children to learn in small group sessions and engage in different types of activities.

"The aim is to purchase a building similar to a cosy shepherd’s hut, and we are excited to focus our fundraising on this new space following TMTI’s incredible support.”

TMTI selects a charity each year to support its fundraising efforts.

TMTI chief executive officer Mark Edmondson said: “TMTI is proud to support local charitable causes especially one within the community where our head office is based."

"We are continuously looking for local individuals to join our expanding team and having a pre-school based just a short distance from the office is an extra benefit for any parent looking to join our company.”

To raise further funds, the voluntary-led committee at Little Cuckoos will be running a host of events, including its annual Christmas fair on Saturday, December 7 from 11am to 2pm.
