IT is understood that a female security guard at the new sports bar in Trowbridge has been taken to hospital for treatment after allegedly being glassed by a customer.

Reports on a local social media website suggest the incident happened yesterday evening at the Trowbridge Sports Bar in Castle Street.

One post said: “I hope the bouncer who was glassed last night is on the mend and I hope the person who did it goes down for it! I really enjoy going in the sports bar so I hope it doesn’t close for this.”

Earlier this morning, the Wiltshire Times messaged the bar’s two directors, father and son David and Ben Wink, asking them for a comment on the incident.

The Trowbridge Sports Bar opened in early September in the premises formerly occupied by the Steak and Lobster Shack.

It shows Sky Sports and BT Sport coverage of games and events across a range of sports and opened in time for the Rugby World Cup.
