People from Bradford on Avon and the surrounding area got the chance to hear their candidates' views at the debate.

Chaired by Geoff Jones, those in attendance were Helen Belcher (Liberal Democrats), Martha Anachury de Bruxelle (Labour) and Michelle Donelan (Conservative), all standing in Chippenham.

Mrs Belcher said: "We'd like to be investing in public transport so people feel they don't need to take a car.

Many had strong views and counter questions as they wanted to get their voices heard on issues of the environment.

Ms Donelan said: "We'd like to focus on protecting our environment and to plant 30 million trees.

"Our focus in the next government is to be the greenest of governments, leading the way in terms of the G20 summit.

"We need to make sure we set realistic targets to achieve this which is why ours is 2050. That is our road map we want to follow."

Labour's Martha Anachury de Bruxelle said: "We need to develop more industry and get people to work from home more.

"We need an integrated transport system so people don't have to use a car or they can cycle so being more sustainable. We have clear plans that will take our country to a new level."
