Members of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Groups’s Trowbridge branch are once again running their annual wishing tree and bric-a-brac shop in Castle Place Shopping Centre in the run up to Christmas.
The popular tree and shop, now back for a seventh year, were officially opened by the Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor David Cavill, and Town Crier Trevor Heeks. Passing shoppers were then treated to a festive performance by the Warminster Community Choir.
The wishing tree and shop are manned entirely by volunteers who raise thousands of pounds each Christmas for the cancer unit at Bath’s Royal United Hospital.
Marie Brichard-Parsons, treasurer of the BCUSG’s Trowbridge fundraising committee, said: “We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Cllr Cavill, Trevor Heeks and the Warminster Community Choir for making the launch of the wishing tree so special, and also to the Castle Place management team."
