Westbury is holding a special celebration on Saturday (December 14) for the 200th birthday of the town's greatest benefactor.
The Westbury Festival has organised a free party to celebrate the life of Abraham Laverton, who gave his name to the town council's offices.
The event is being held at 7pm at The Laverton in Bratton Road. There will be a cash bar, music, talks and poetry readings.
Abraham Laverton (1819–1886) was a cloth mill owner, philanthropist, and Liberal MP for the Borough of Westbury from 1874 to 1880.
